Ready to take the Challenge?
1. TAKE THE CHALLENGE
Your challenge is to design a toy or gadget for someone your age who is moving to Mars.
You will use the process of design thinking – used by the best designers and engineers all over the world – to help you come up with your finished design.
The Challenge website takes you through the basics of the design thinking process. As you work through the Challenge, a real astronaut will tell you about her experience in space and you can choose create your design using free 3D design tools from Makers Empire, or you can draw your design by hand onto the ‘MAKE IT!’ Design Sheet.
2. SUBMIT YOUR DESIGN
Please submit you Challenge Completion Form here by 30 September 2022 to meet the Challenge deadline.
The Commissioner will consider with each of your designs: (1) is it a good design? (2) did it make me feel something? This could be anything from a ‘wow’ to a ‘whoa’ to a smile. Top rated designs will be selected for inclusion in the Space to Dream public exhibition. Selected designs will also feature in the Commissioner’s Virtual Gallery of Designs.
3. CLAIM YOUR BADGE
You will be sent a certificate by email when you submit your Challenge Completion Form.
Please forward this certificate to your Guide Leader so they can organise collection of your badge.
